Fall Operations
IT at UIC is adapting to “new ways of working” and wants to ensure students are aware of service status and support operations for the fall semester. Most technology services remain fully available and supported during this time with some important exceptions.

Socrates Chatbot 

Introducing Socrates; a support chatbot
We are excited to introduce Socrates, a new chatbot available on the Blackboard login page offering on-demand support and answers to frequently asked questions related to Blackboard, password assistance, course activities and more! Socrates is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To start a conversation with Socrates, simply go to the Blackboard login page, click the purple icon button in the lower right hand corner and the chat box will appear.

Update Name and Pronouns
Students can provide name pronunciation, preferred names and personal pronouns (e.g. he, him, his) in Blackboard. This can help instructors and classmates get to know you, your name, and your gender identity. To update your preferences, go to a course in Blackboard, click on the My Information link in the Course Tools Area and enter your desired information.

Office 365
With Office 365, you have access to a suite of Microsoft programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and more! This FREE offer is available to all students with a valid UIC NetID and password. Office 365 can be used two ways: in the cloud using the applications online or by installing the apps locally on up to five PCs or Macs, tablets, and mobile devices. 


Virtual Computer Lab
Remotely access specialized software like Mathematica, R Studio, Matlab, SPSS and more right from your own computers and even mobile devices using Virtual Computer Labs.


UofI WebStore
Licensed software is distributed directly through the University of Illinois WebStore, where you can access cybersecurity software Symantec, UIC VPN, Mathematica and more at a discount or for FREE! Our licensing agreements often allow software to be used both on campus and on personal computers.

Print with Wepa
Wepa is a cloud-based printing service that allows you to print directly from various sources including Blackboard, Google Drive, email, mobile, and USB. ACCC provides all students with $15 in printing credit at the beginning of each semester. Printing this fall will be available at accessible Wepa print stations.

 Touch Free Printing

Touch-Free Printing 
To help ensure the health and safety of students, while still meeting your printing needs, Wepa has added features to their mobile app, which enables you to manage print jobs, check balances and release requests directly from your smartphone. Wepa Express, a new feature in the mobile app, also allows you to release the documents at any print station without having to touch the screen.

Laptop or Hotspot Request
While classes are being conducted online, UIC has made available a limited quantity of University-owned laptops and cellular hotspots as a temporary loan to students who do not have reliable access to a computer and/or internet at their home. If you are a current UIC student enrolled in the Fall 2020 semester, and have need of a laptop or cellular hotspot, please complete and submit this form.

On-Campus/In-Person Support*
C-Stop locations will offer in-person tech support from our knowledgeable consultants by appointment only. Support is available on personal devices including installation and virus support. *ACCC staff will be adhering to the University’s Personal Health and Safety procedures in response to the current pandemic. All in-person clients are required to do the same for the health and safety of the community.


August Scheduled Maintenance 
August 14-16, 2020
ACCC maintenance windows begin at 9:30 pm on Friday and end at 11:59 pm on Sunday.

Maintenance windows are scheduled to have the least impact on operations, and service downtime is kept to a minimum. However, certain services may be unavailable for extended periods of time due to necessary updates.
