UIC's Record-Breaking Year in Research

UIC topped its annual record for research awards, receiving $446 million in sponsored funding. Whether it’s determining why Latinos carry a higher burden of certain ailments such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, or using artificial intelligence to aid the state’s highway infrastructure, UIC researchers are impacting how we live and learn. Serving the Servicemembers

Through initiatives like UIC Law's Veterans Legal Clinic, UIC empowers students with opportunities to be engaged citizens and work in partnership with communities. The Veterans Legal Clinic helps veterans access the benefits they earned, appeal the characterization of their discharges and assists them with criminal court treatment or diversion programs. Not only does the clinic benefit the veteran community, it also helps law students develop skills beyond the classroom. Read more.

Increasing Faculty Diversity

At UIC, we’re cultivating an environment of empowerment for our faculty with programs like the Bridge to the Faculty Scholars program. Created in 2019, the initiative seeks to enhance diversity by encouraging the recruitment, retention and promotion of scholars from different backgrounds and groups who have been historically underrepresented in academia. Recognizing Excellence: Credit Union 1 Scholarship

Giving has tremendous impact at UIC. It fuels opportunities for today's students from every culture, race, socioeconomic background and circumstance. Grace Holt Memorial Endowment
 

 

A Memorial Bequest To Elevate Black Studies

Professor Grace Holt, the first Black woman to earn tenure at UIC, established the Black Studies Department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in 1971, and was its first director. Today the Grace Holt Memorial Endowment, created after her death in 1991 by her daughter Colette, honors her legacy by supporting Black Studies students who demonstrate a commitment to racial justice. Support like this helps us ensure that every hungry mind has a path to study at our great university. Read more.
