Weekly Workshop: Grading with Rubrics in Blackboard. Do you already use rubrics when you grade? Are you interested in starting? Blackboard rubrics make grading a snap and let you quickly (and paperlessly!) give students feedback on their assignments. They also help keep grading uniform, which makes them great for large or multi-section courses. In this workshop, we’ll discuss how to design a good rubric, show you how rubrics work in Blackboard and how you can pair them with Blackboard's inline grading feature, and help you set up your own rubric based on an assignment for your class. Be sure to bring a copy of your syllabus or assignment!

Can't make the scheduled workshop times below? Email us to set up a meeting at the LCLC or in your office: lclc@uic.edu

A teaching with technology tip of the week:

From the archives

Free dictionary add-ons for Google Chrome. When students read and write online, they use dictionaries. Switching between websites wastes time and breaks concentration, hampering reading comprehension and coherent writing. Here are two tips on how to optimize students' online experience (and your own!) using extensions in Google Chrome.

UIC LCLC Facebook and Twitter! Encourage your students and colleagues to check out the UIC Language and Culture Learning Center Facebook page and Twitter feed. Stay up-to-date with LCLC happenings. Promoting our pages is a good way to ensure your students know about your conversation hour or film series.
