UICOMP COVID-19 – Update

September 10, 2021

Dear UICOMP Family,

Next week we start saliva testing twice weekly, and testing hours are being expanded to accommodate those who require testing as well as those who desire testing.

Peoria Saliva Testing Requirement Will Become Twice per 7-Day Period

Effective September 13, unvaccinated UICOMP employees and students who have requested a medical or religious exemption and those who are partially vaccinated will be required to obtain a COVID-19 saliva test twice per 7-day period with each test being 48 hours or more apart. This is in accordance with UIC guidelines. Saliva testing is conducted at 1 Illini Drive in Room 325A, and appointments must be made online.

Saliva Testing Times (effective September 13):

Mondays and Wednesdays – 1 – 4 pm (Appointments must be made prior to 11 am the day of testing.)

Tuesdays and Thursdays – 8 – 11 am (Appointments must be made prior to 6 am on the day of testing)

Details on the UICOMP Saliva Testing Process may be found here.

Affiliates Require Medical, Religious Exemptions

Those who are affiliated with OSF or UnityPoint Health are also required to complete vaccine requirements for their respective affiliate. This includes providing proof of COVID-19 vaccine or being granted a medical or religious exemption. Please follow the processes and protocol of the respective affiliate as those processes are independent of the UICOMP/UIC processes/system.

The pandemic has presented unimaginable challenges, but our care teams, faculty, staff, residents and students continue to rise to the occasion.

“Everybody can be great… because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

I want to express my gratitude once again to all of you who continue to carry forward with the mission of UICOMP despite the on-going changes as has been the nature of this pandemic. Your patience, support and understanding are appreciated.

Be healthy and stay safe.

Sincerely,
