Weekly Workshop: Google Apps at UICAre you familiar with Google docs or Google Sheets but not really Google Sites or Google Slides and have definitely never heard of Google Drawing? Did you ever want to explore the Google Apps and their possibilities but it has been overwhelming or you simply never found time to dig in deeper? Or perhaps you know a lot about Google Apps but you never tried to use them through the UIC account? If any of these are true or if you are simply interested in finding more about Google Apps at UIC, this workshop is a perfect opportunity for that. The features of Google Apps at UIC (e.g. Google slides, Google Drawing, Google Forms, New Google Sites, etc.) will be discussed and the ideas of how you can use these tools in your class for assignments, grading, evaluations, presentations, and many other things. This workshop will be on the general use and possibilities of Google Apps. Workshops on a specific App with all its features, examples, pros and cons will be offered soon!

Can't make the scheduled workshop times below? Email us to set up a meeting at the LCLC or in your office:

A teaching with technology tip of the week:

Recap: A Video-Response Tool For Your Classroom

This week's tech tip brought to you by Anna Torres Mallma, Spanish Ph.D. student. She researched and wrote a review of Recap as part of LCSL 505, and it was published in FLTmag in June, 2018. Go Anna!

Recap is a free web-based tool that allows users to record and post videos for private and public interactive discussions. It is a product from an American company called Swivl that launched in 2010 and has since been a pioneer in media solutions for educational and coaching purposes. Recap is comparable to tools such as FlipGrid as it works as a social video-respond platform but Recap offers users different formats in addition to video, including text and audio.
