UIC Recognized for Excellence and Diversity

UIC's commitment to excellence, achievement and diversity was recognized in recent rankings. UIC ranked 11th in the country among public universities by QS World University Rankings, climbing from the 14th spot, and we moved up to the 36th spot from the 43rd in the ranking of doctoral universities. The Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education also ranked UIC highest in the Midwest region for diversity at 13th. Read more.

Donor Supports Faculty Research in Honor of Late Husband   

Dr. Karyn Holm, former UIC College of Nursing professor, has donated $1 million to create the Terrance and Karyn Holm Endowed Professorship Fund and the Terrance and Karyn Holm Unrestricted Research Center Program Fund. Her gift will support faculty in and raise the stature and visibility of the Midwest Nursing History Research Center while also memorializing her husband Terrance who supported her and her work. First Recipient of W. Ann and Rachel Reynolds Dissertation Fellowship

When Justin Raden learned he won the W. Ann and Rachel Reynolds Dissertation Fellowship, he was overwhelmed and grateful. "At any time, full financial support for 12 months to work on a dissertation is a dream scenario,” he says. The gift which supports PhD students in English allows him to commit to a long period of intensive research to both complete the dissertation and polish materials that will project him nicely into the job market. Alumnus Endows UIC Athletics' Third-Largest Scholarship 

UIC student-athlete alumnus Al Ronan BA ’69, MA ‘70 committed $250,000 to establish the Al Ronan Family UIC Athletics Scholarship Fund, the third-largest endowed scholarship gift in the UIC Athletics' program history. The fund will support student-athletes who demonstrate financial need, academic merit and athletic excellence. "Scholarships funded by the generosity of alumni and friends are what our beloved university needs and will enable our athletics leadership to continue to recruit and compete for championships at the Division I level,” said Ronan.
