COVID-19 Vaccine Testing Launches 

UIC is expected to start testing a vaccine for COVID-19 in July. “We want to see if the vaccine will prevent people from getting COVID-19 or if it will prevent people from experiencing severe illness if they do get the disease,” said Dr. Richard Novak, lead investigator of the clinical trial at UIC. Celebrating Alumni Success

Miiri Kotche MS '97, PhD '09, a clinical professor in the Richard and Loan Hill Department of Bioengineering at UIC, was named as one of Chicago’s “Notable Women in STEM” by Crain’s Chicago Business. Meanwhile, artist and educator Jim Duignan BFA ‘91, MFA ’93 is preparing for a major museum retrospective of his work, which kicks off in March 2021 at the DePaul University Art Museum.
