Dear Faculty, Lecturers and TAs,

In this week’s newsletter:

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!  Online teaching and learning is showing one of its big advantages today…

As we all continue to explore the virtual classroom, LCLC is offering workshops on demand, synchronous or asynchronous. Contact us to set one up.

Apprentice peer tutors start next week: that means 40 hours a week of free tutoring for Spanish and French, 20 for German, and 5 for Italian, and unlimited Instagram posts and Blogs created by all the peer tutors/upper-level students.

In other news, read about online teaching successes and share your own stories, meet a French tutor, mark your calendar for another session of LCSL 505, and let us know what your experiences with LCLC have been by taking our survey.  All below!  We’re open M-F 9-5, or email us anytime at

Visit our website at or stop by to chat in our Drop-In Helpdesk (Virtual Office).

Meet Susy, one of our French Tutors!

I am a Teaching of French major and I am also a native Spanish speaker. I am a first generation college student and a transfer from Loyola hoping to make more diverse connections with my fellow students.  I want to be a tutor because not only is it a great way to kick start my “teaching” journey, but also because I love connecting with others through a shared language.

PearDeck keeps my students engaged

"Everybody is a little tired of the online world, even students who take a class on teaching with technology! To make my synchronous class presentations a little more interactive and engaging, I used PearDeck, a really nice tool for enhancing lectures or any kind. PearDeck allows users to add interactive Google slides that include different prompts, questions (also about students' wellbeing), stretch breaks, drawing, typing, audios, and many others. The cool thing is that it provides all those ideas for you and you just add an interacting slide with two clicks. My students really enjoyed PearDeck presentations, as there was always something a little surprising, a little different and it kept their spirits and curiosity going!"
